With a hands-on understanding of video and new media production, post-production, visual effects, animation, print and web design, John-Michael keeps a "beginner's mind", always driven to continue deepening skills in positive-narrative storytelling on a variety of platforms.
John-Michael has successfully guided hundreds of television, video, motion-graphic, animation, web and print design projects from the initial creative spark to completion for a client roster that includes Island View Casino and Penn National Gaming, among many other valued clients.
Soon after graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration (emphasis: Management Informations Systems) from USM. John-Michael landed a job as Promotion and Community Relations Director at WAPT-TV in Jackson, MS. During his three years at this ABC affiliate, he created/produced hundreds of on air news and entertainment promotional spots and public service announcements, as well as learning the art and science of targeted targeted media placement.
Following another three years as a Promotion Director at a regional shopping mall, John-Michael followed his passion to the creative side of production, working as an ad agency creative director, then striking out on his own to wear multiple creative hats and cultivate two decades of hands-on experience directing, producing, writing, shooting, editing and creating motion-graphics, visual effects and 3D animation, as well as web and print design.
Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects (with Elements and Trapcode plugins), Maya, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Coda (HTML/CSS hand coding) are among the software he regularly uses to create video, motion-graphic. web and print design projects.
While continuing to create projects for cherished long-time clients, John-Michael is deepening skills as an "actor's director" through film/tv studies at UCLA and through his regular participation in "The Cinema Gym," Alexander D'Lerma's Directing/Acting workshop in Burbank, CA. Each month in the Cinema Gym, John-Michael is challenged with new genres and an intense shooting schedule (75 minutes to prep, block and shoot all takes).
Originally located in Gulfport, Mississippi's historic Markham Building, Digignite Digital Studios ("digital" &"ignite") creates television, web and print advertising campaigns for the area's casinos, medical centers, advertising agencies, among other clients.
On August 29, 2005, John-Michael's bricks n' mortar media production studio unexpectedly became a "virtual" studio when Hurricane Katrina struck the gulf coast. With home and offices destroyed, John-Michael had a choice: rebuild on the gulf coast or follow the life-long call to make the motion-picture and television capital of the world his home?
Taking that giant leap into the abyss, he headed to sunny California and with great surprise and gratitude, discovered that his much-valued clients stayed with him on his cross-country journey.
